Winter

1) Winter

This is a poem I wrote during a quiet winter night while staring at the bare tree silhouettes that surrounded my yard. I was having feelings of appreciation for the life that lives on in the midst of human intervention and all the ways nature shows her determination to survive even in the most uncomfortable conditions.

2) Always

Growing up in church, I’ve seen and experienced many different denominations of Christianity. Some were more based in text and deeds, others more based in spirituality and emotional interactions with things seen and unseen. This song touches on the energy that we all hold regardless of what we were taught or learned on our own growing up. Its the energy that exists within every living thing and will always be with us. Tap in!

3) Don’t Love Alone

A wise man said the scariest thing in life is not ending up alone, but ending up surrounded by people who make you feel alone. I’m paraphrasing, but Robin Williams hit the nail on the head. Loving alone is much worse than being on your own. Isolation can give us a chance to really connect with ourselves without external influences. It really forces us to go within and make room for real love; love that won’t let you love alone.

4) Faces

I’ve grown to be somewhat of a workhorse over the years. I really enjoy doing what I have to do during the day so I can get back to my lovely passions at home. My music, art pieces, instruments and whatever else I have going on in my little cave. That said, I also recognize the importance of socializing, especially with coworkers. This song was written from the perspective of a homebody deciding to meet up with their coworkers after work.

5) Lovely Pride

Pride cometh before the fall! A saying that circulated from a popular bible verse. The only problem is that pride can also get you out of bed, aid in creating healthy boundaries, assist in encouraging someone else to succeed, give one the strength to stand in front of a crowd of people, etc. While pride can be harmful, it can also be helpful. This song explores and expresses concerns about what to do with pride and how to process it.
